Apple’s French website leaks new iPad mini
Apple’s new compact tablet is expected to arrive in the coming weeks. The company has now indirectly confirmed that itself.

The next iPad mini is on the way: After weeks of seemingly endless rumors about Apple’s first compact OLED tablet, the company has now published details itself — apparently by mistake. A previously unknown model number for an accessory product appears in the regulatory disclosures section of Apple’s French website. The accessory belongs to an “iPad mini”. It’s a new Smart Folio, a folding cover that also serves as a stand.
A previously unknown model number
The “Informations réglementaires” page provides information such as whether recycled materials were used and how many rare earth elements a piece of hardware contains. The entry was updated alongside new accessories for the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max, which went on sale in September. MacRumors spotted the entry. The model number is A3632. No other product currently uses it, including the current Smart Folio for the iPad mini 7.
Apple is currently expected to unveil the iPad mini 8 on Oct. 28, along with at least three refreshed Mac product lines. A new entry-level iPad is also in the pipeline. The 12th-generation standard model apparently isn’t ready yet, however, and probably won’t be unveiled before next spring.

First iPad mini with OLED — at a steep price
With the next iPad mini, Apple is continuing its move to OLED screens. Two iPad Pro models have used the technology for several years, while iPhones have relied exclusively on OLED for years. The iPad mini 8 is also supposed to be water-resistant, thanks to a new speaker layout, and feature a faster A19 chip and an offset camera for landscape shots.
Observers expect a price increase of at least $200; in Europe, it could amount to €250. Apple had already raised prices significantly on its iPhones, citing the RAM and NAND price crisis. That affected older hardware, too, such as the iPhone 17e and iPhone 17. The current iPad mini 7 launched in fall 2024 with the A17 Pro chip from the iPhone 15 Pro.
