Following next week’s Home keynote, the big Mac show is not far off: an OLED touchscreen MacBook and other devices are expected to follow by the end of October.

The fast pace continues at Apple in October: Following yesterday’s announcement of a smart home event for next Tuesday (October 13), the date for a Mac event is reportedly also set – and likewise scheduled for this month. This is reported by the usually well-informed Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman. According to him, October 27 will be Apple’s date. That would be the last Tuesday of this month. However, Gurman is not yet committing definitively, writing of “around” this date. Tuesday, however, is Apple’s frequently used announcement day.
The new Ultra is the MacBook Pro
The information about the Mac event comes once again from informed circles. According to them, Apple will present up to three different Mac product lines as well as an eighth-generation iPad mini with an OLED screen. The main focus of the event—likely held once again as a video release followed by a reception for select press representatives and influencers—is the “MacBook Ultra.” It will be the first touchscreen MacBook ever and also the first Mac to be equipped with an OLED screen. It is conceivable that Apple will simply call the machine MacBook Pro; Gurman also omits the “Ultra” designation, which has been circulating in the rumor mill for months, in his article.

It will then be interesting to see whether the regular MacBook Pro models with M5 Max and M5 Pro and without a touchscreen and OLED will remain on the market or be replaced by the new variants. These should be significantly lighter, but not necessarily thinner. 14- and 16-inch models are still planned; Apple is reportedly sticking with the M5 Max and M5 Pro, as there are no Max and Pro variants of the M6. Next year, the company could then jump directly to M7 Max and M7 Pro with the devices.
Even more Macs – and further information on the Home Event
In addition to the two new top MacBooks, Apple is also planning a 14-inch MacBook Pro model as an entry-level variant with an M6 chip and the old form factor, similar to the current M5 model. Furthermore, iMacs with M6 chips and possibly new colors are planned.
For the Home Event next week, Apple is inviting guests to a media event in New York. However, as far as is currently known, no reporters or influencers from non-English-speaking countries are invited – from Europe, only Britons are invited. At the event, in addition to new HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K devices, the new home device “Home Hub” with accessories is primarily expected, which is intended to serve as a new home control center. Since it relies heavily on the Siri AI system, which is still not available in the EU on iPhones and iPads, Apple may intend to bring the “Home Hub” to Europe later.
