iPad 12: Hardware details leaked in Apple code
Apple may soon launch a new entry-level tablet. Information has been circulating in the rumor mill for a while, and now facts are emerging from Apple’s code.

Following leaks about the HomePod Mini 2, Apple TV 4K 4th generation, and iPad Mini 8, details about the twelfth-generation iPad have now also surfaced. These also originate from Apple’s own code, as the company often needs to include information about yet-to-be-released products in its software to maintain compatibility. The well-known leak expert Aaron Perris found them again. According to him, a significant performance boost is planned for Apple’s entry-level tablet.
Switching to Apple Intelligence Level
As Perris reported via MacRumors, the iPad 12 will reportedly feature an Apple Intelligence-compatible chip for the first time: the A19 from the iPhone 17 and 17e. Currently, the 11th generation still uses the old A16 from the iPhone 14 Pro, 14 Pro Max, 15, and 15 Plus. None of these models can use Apple’s old AI system or the new Siri AI, which is coming to devices with iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and Co. (though initially not in the EU for iPhone and iPad not in the EU). The iPad 12 will also receive 8 GB of RAM instead of 6 GB on the iPad 11. This is the minimum for Apple Intelligence and should further accelerate the tablet.

Furthermore, Apple is also adding modern network technology: Perris discovered hints about the C1X modem chip, the second generation of Apple’s in-house 5G baseband, as well as the N1 network chip, which combines Bluetooth and WLAN. It supports Bluetooth 6, Wi-Fi 7, and Thread, among other things, but not mmWave, although the latter is not a real issue in Europe anyway. It is also conceivable that Apple will introduce new colors for the iPad 12 – also to distinguish the devices from previous models.
Availability Soon – or with a bit of a wait
It is unclear when Apple will launch the iPad 12. Depending on which rumor mill you consult, a launch is expected in October (together with the iPad mini 8) or not until next spring. Apple recently increased prices for the iPad 11 in June. Since then, the hardware has been less worthwhile.
Apart from the changed internals, little is expected to change in terms of appearance: Apple will likely not introduce a new OLED display until later – possibly in two years. The iPad 11 was launched in spring 2025. Accordingly, it is currently considered a March device. New standard iPhones of the 18 series are also expected at this time also expected at this time.
