Apple's goal with macOS 27 alias Golden Gate was to bring fewer new features to the Mac and instead focus on bug fixes and optimizations in many areas of the operating system. The company introduced “an extensive set of improvements,” “making your Mac even more responsive, reliable, and enjoyable.” However, since the system’s release last week, reports of minor and major problems have been increasing, casting doubt on whether Apple has succeeded in all cases. Menu bar not clickable
After reporting last week that the launch of the system search Spotlight had disappeared from the menu bar after activating Siri AI in macOS 27, it has now emerged that this is apparently a simple bug. If you use an Apple mouse or Apple trackpad with the “Tap to Click” function, as many users do, icons in the menu bar may not be clickable correctly. This causes the Siri AI icon to launch voice recognition instead of opening Spotlight, and in other cases, such as the Wi-Fi symbol, the menu briefly appears and then disappears again. Meanwhile, Apple’s Mission Control function in macOS 27 is partially or completely disrupted. This allows a quick overview of open windows and has been a part of the operating system for many years. In macOS 27, Mission Control windows may suddenly “jump away” when the mouse pointer hovers over them, making them unclickable. This behavior is also confusingly difficult to reproduce and may be related to the selected screen resolution.
Erratic Double Siri
Such “jumping problems” also exist with Siri AI. When calling the AI system from apps like the Apple Music application via context menu, the input window changes position erratically when you move the mouse over it. Sometimes the Siri AI sphere for voice input appears multiple times. Furthermore, there are reports that the macOS 27 installation cannot be completed. With every restart, the welcome menu appears, prompting you to set up Wi-Fi and iCloud accounts.
At least: Apple seems to have already recognized many of the bugs and fixed them in macOS 27.2, which is currently being tested by developers and participants in the Public Beta Program. The update is expected in a few weeks.
