Yvonne, the German cow famous for having escaped and lived in the wild for weeks, was captured on Friday morning. The first tranquilizer shot, delivered via a blowtube, failed to calm Yvonne...
...forcing veterinarian Henning Wiesner to deliver a second shot. Yvonne had eluded would-be capturers for weeks after escaping from a farm which had slated her for slaughter.
Yvonne seemed to prefer the life of a fugitive and struggled for her freedom.
She put up an impressive fight, bucking and charging a tractor to which she'd been tied.
At some point she fell down, but sprang into action once again.
Wiesner, who is also the former director of a zoo, was impressed by Yvonne's strength. "She acted very aggressively," he said, explaining that a normal cow would have been led away easily after just one shot.
"She has the qualities of a Spanish Toro," he added.
Her captors were finally forced to heave Yvonne into the animal transporter.
But she'll have plenty of time to come down off her adrenaline rush at her new home, the Bad Aiderbichl animal rescue farm in Deggendorf, where both her son and sister await.
Her wild and free days, shown here in a rare sighting over the summer, are now over.
