Prosecutors in Austria are investigating a political campaign over its use of a video game that invites players to stop the construction of mosques and minarets.
Members of Austria's Freedom Party (FPÖ) have released a new video game, "Bye Bye Mosque," in which players attempt to stop the construction of minarets and mosques.
There's no shooting involved as in some racist games, but there are definitely targets. If players don't stop the minaret from rising using a "stop" sign, then the calls to prayer can be heard from a muezzin. The politician behind the game, playing on the debate in Germany over politician Thilo Sarrazin's anti-Muslim remarks in recent weeks, said: "We'd rather have Sarrazin than a muezzin."
After 60 seconds of play, the game states: "Styria is full of minarets and mosques. So vote for Dr. Gerhard Kurzmann and the Freedom Party on September 26 so that this doesn't happen."
