In recent days, bodies have been washing up along the shore of the Quweiq River in the Syrian city of Aleppo. On Tuesday, Jan. 29, close to 80 corpses were retrieved. It is believed that many were students who had been killed on their way to stand exams at a university. The campus is located in a part of the city that is still controlled by dictator Bashar Assad's regime.

They can be seen in this photo during their burial at a park that has been renamed "Martyrs of the Park". Mourners shout slogans as they gather around the shrouded bodies of executed civilians. It is believed that more bodies remain stuck upstream. Photographs are taken of the corpses for purposes of later identification before they are buried.
