Photo Gallery Giant Celebration
The huge puppets arrived in Berlin late last week. Here, the smaller of the two -- just seven meters (23 feet) tall -- sleeps on Friday night in a chair in the Lustgarten, on Berlin's Museum Island.
On Saturday morning, the second puppet, which stood 15 meters (50 feet) tall, was lifted out of the Spree River near the Berlin central train station.
The bigger of the two giants wears sized 237 shoes. He marched in from former West Berlin. The marionettes were produced by the French troupe Royal de Luxe.

The smaller giant, dressed in a yellow rain coat, walked up Unter den Linden to Brandenburg Gate on Saturday.
Hundreds of thousands of Berliners showed up to watch the giants as they made their way through the capital.
The two met at the Brandenburg Gate, where they fell into each others' arms -- intended as a symbol of Germany's reunification, which was celebrated fro the 19th time on Saturday.
The two giants then paraded down the Strasse des 17. Juni, accompanied by thousands.
On Sunday, the two giants were exhausted and rested in a barge on the Spree River.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel was in Saarbrücken for the official celebration of Germany's reunification. She said that Germany's rebirth in 1990 "was the result of boldness, determination and moral courage."
Whereas giants helped Germany celebrate reunification in Berlin, this bald eagle was on hand in Saarbrücken.
