IPad are already widely used in schools around the world. But several new education facilities in the Netherlands plan to conduct all education via an iPad -- with students maintaining full control of their pace of learning. Here, a brother and sister in Pennsylvania playing with an iPad and an iPhone.
The Dutch schools will allow children to play games as well, but their learning will be evaluated every few weeks to determine the progress they are making.
At the new schools in Holland there will be no blackboards, chalk or classrooms, homeroom teachers, formal classes, lesson plans, seating charts, pens, teachers teaching from the front of the room, schedules, parent-teacher meetings, grades, recess bells, fixed school days and school vacations. Here, German high-school students using tablet computers in class.
There are myriad educational apps available at the iTunes store. The iPad schools in the Netherlands intends to take full advantage.
