Photo Gallery Murder in Paris
In this Jan. 12, 2013 archive photo, hundreds of people of Kurdish origin can be seen taking part in a demonstration in Paris two days after three Kurdish women were found shot dead at the Kurdistan Information Bureau. The murders, believed to be political slayings, have the potential to massively burden relations between Turkey and Europe.
Pictured to the left is Sakine Cansiz, one of the three women killed that day. Recently emerged evidence is fueling suspicions that Turkey's MIT intelligence agency may have ordered the killings. It is still just a suspicion, but it has nevertheless rattled nerves in Paris and Berlin alike.
Here, the body of one of the three women is carried out of the Kurdistan Information Bureau in Paris on Jan. 10, 2013.
Cansiz (left) is pictured here with PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan in 1995. Ocalan is currently in prison. And the Kurdistan Worker's Party is banned by the European Union as a terrorist organization.
Pictured here is a demonstration of members of the Kurdish community in Marseille, France, on Jan. 10, 2013. Officials across Europe worry that if suspicions of Turkish government involvement are proven, that it could trigger violent clashes in countries outside Turkey that are home to large Kurdish populations, including Germany.
