While walking home from the busstop this week, a 13-year-old Norwegian school boy stubled upon four wolves. In the end, it may have been his love of heavy-metal music by the band Creed that saved his life.

On Monday, 13-year-old Norwegian Walter Eikrem walked home from school after leaving his busstop. When he was almost there, his path was blocked by hungry wolves. But, remembering his mom’s advice, Walter didn’t run away.

Instead, he pulled the earphones out of his mobile phone, turned the volume all the way up and played the song "Overcome" by the American hard-rock band Creed over its miniature speakers. At the same time, he yelled while flailing his arms about wildly to scare off the wolves.

Doing so might have saved his life. "You can even get a little poodle to run after you if you run away, even if actually doesn't even want to attack you," Walter's mother says. "And the same holds true for wolves." Though elated that her son is all right, she still feels guilty about not picking him up from school because she knew wolves were in the neighborhood.
