Photo Gallery Snowflake's New Den
Nuremberg zoo's most famous resident, Snowflake the baby polar bear, is going from strength to strength. Here she is on her two-month birthday, on Feb. 11.
Snowflake has had a new nursery since last Thursday. Zoo staff have paneled a room with wooden boards and lined it with rubber mats to make a home big enough for Snowflake to romp around in.
Her familiar old box is inside the new den, so that Snowflake can always retreat there if necessary.
The little cub is becoming increasingly playful ...
... and likes giving her toys a lick.
And she has a healthy appetite. "She's now drinking almost a liter of milk a day," said zoo vet Bernd Neurohr.
Zoo staff say she's especially fond of her toy bear ...
... although a plastic bone is also fun.
A tired Snowflake takes a little nap.
