On Thursday last week, German police arrested a man they believe may be a fourth member of the al-Qaida cell discovered in the spring.
Halil S. was arrested last week on suspicion that he was planning a terror attack in Germany. He is thought to belong to an Islamist terror cell which saw three other presumed members arrested in late April.

Investigators believe that the group to which Halil S. is thought to belong maintained contacts with high ranking al-Qaida members. In May, S. attempted to make contact with Anwar al-Awlaki (pictured here), the al-Qaida propagandist who was killed by a US drone attack in late September.

In April, German officials arrested three people suspected of belonging to an al-Qaida cell, known as the Düsseldorf cell. Here, one of the suspects is taken in for a court appearance.
