Germany's Interior Ministry this week indicated that German officials confiscated over 800 weapons from neo-Nazi groups in Germany in the years 2009 to 2010. Police had also found large quantities of firearms in the position of right-wing extremists in years prior to that. Here, a collection of weapons seized during a series of raids in 2005.
In addition to handguns and rifles, authorities reported that they had found military-grade weapons as well. Here, the weapons cache confiscated in 2005.
The Interior Ministry report also indicated that 13 right-wing extremist groups since 2001 have been investigated under German laws prohibiting the creation of a terrorist organization. Concerns in Germany are particularly high following the discovery early this month of a neo-Nazi terror cell in the eastern German town of Zwickau thought to have been responsible for the murders of nine people, including one police officer.
Included in the finds from 2009 and 2010 were handguns, rifles and even military-grade firearms. In addition, police seized 40 explosive devices, all manner of pepper sprays and well over 300 blades. This image is from 2000 and shows weapons confiscated during a raid in the Bavarian town of Dachau.
The recent revelations surrounding the Zwickau neo-Nazi terror cell have many in Germany concerned about a new readiness among right-wing extremists to commit violence. This image is from an exhibit put on by the German Office for the Protection of the Constitution in 2010.
