Rebels are seen in July throwing stones at Indian troops at a Kashmiri pro-independence protest.
The latest uprising broke out in July after rebel leader Burhan Muzaffar Wani was killed by Indian special forces.
The response by Indian security forces has often been brutal.
At least 70 people have died so far. Relatives here mourn the death of a young man on August 22 in the capital city of Srinagar.
Freshly wounded people are treated every day in local hospitals. Soldiers are firing cluster munitions, which can result in serious injury or even death.
The weapons, which fire milimeter small projectiles, are only supposed to be fired below the knees, but often victims are struck in the torso or head.
Indian doctor Farooq Ahmed Kalloo is coordinating medical care for the protesters through local volunteer organizations. He said he has seen many such cases.
He doesn't believe the violence in Kashmir will end anytime soon. "The last revolts lasted three months. I'm certain that the protests here will continue."
Soldiers patrol the streets and curfews have been imposed. Stores, schools, business and government offices have been closed. Traffic has been brought to a halt by barbed wire barricades.
