A little inspiration: Building on the popularity of revival cars like the VW Beetle, the Mini and the new Fiat 500, Germany's Herpa company hopes to bring back the Trabant too. For now, a 1:10 design model is all they have.

The Trabant was a product of East Germany's strapped command economy: with "Duroplast" body panels made of recycled plastic and a two-stroke engine, it topped out at 100 km per hour (70 mph). Visitors to a museum in Radebeul, near Dresden can get a partial sense of the Trabi experience.
