The Monday after Easter this year was a special one for horses in the Bavarian town of Traunstein. Every year in April, they are decorated with flowers to take part in a procession from the town center to the small, Ettendorf Church on top of a nearby hill, where they are blessed. The tradition is centuries old and has taken place since at least the early 16th century. Similar processions take place in several towns in Bavaria and Austria.
