"Impression Lijiang" is one of China's largest cultural spectacles, and one that takes place at dizzying heights. The show, a dancing and singing production, centers around the coexistence and traditions of different minorities living in China's southern Yunnan region. Over 500 performers representing the area's Naxi, Yi and Bai people participate in the show, which takes place beneath the 5,596 meter peak of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The event is directed by, among others, star film director Zhang Yimo ("Hero" and "House of Flying Daggers"). Performed at 3,310 meters (10,859 feet) above sea level, the show is the highest altitude production in the world.
