Over 100,000 people attended the closing sermon of the Protestant Church Congress, Germany's biggest religious gathering, in Hamburg on Sunday. The event, which takes place in a different German city every two years, is not solely focused on religious topics but also addresses questions of social justice and political responsibility. A number of prominent German politicians attended and took part in panel discussions -- among them Chancellor Angela Merkel and the country's president, former Lutheran pastor Joachim Gauck.
