In honor of Richard Wagner's 200th birthday on Wednesday, Leipzig's Klinger Forum has opened a "Mythos Wagner" exhibition exploring the famous German composer's complicated legacy. Although his death preceded Adolf Hitler's rise to power by decades, it is clear that his music served as an inspiration for many Nazis -- a factor that would ultimately tarnish his legendary work . Jonathan Meese's 2011 painting "Keine Gurus," or "No Gurus," is a centerpiece of the exhibition that opened on Tuesday in the city of Wagner's birth. The painter been tapped to stage Wagner's opera "Parsifal" at the prestigious Bayreuth Festival in 2016.
