Picture This Hats Off
In an effort to promote the Japanese bid to host the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, 1,200 people gathered at Tokyo's Haneda airport on Sunday, simultaneously throwing their hats into the air in a show of support for the bid. The event, which was organized by the country's 2020 Bid Committee, is likely to set a new world record for the most people throwing hats at the same time. Japan's efforts to host the Games have come under fire from animal activists, who have pressured the International Olympic Committee to reject the bid until the country ends the slaughter and captive trade of migrating dolphins. The final decision on whether Tokyo -- or one of its two competitors Madrid and Istanbul -- will host the Games will be made after a final presentation in Buenos Aires next month.
