Spanish model Elen Rivas joined dozens of protestors outside the Spanish Embassy in London on Wednesday to oppose an initiative to protect bullfighting as a cultural heritage by the government in Madrid. The internationally coordinated effort was attended by members of PETA -- the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals -- and the League Against Cruel Sports. The proposed legislation, which is currently passing through the Spanish parliament, seeks to protect and promote the age-old sport -- allowing public funds to be used to support the industry. An Ipsos MORI opinion poll conducted in August shows that the majority of the Spanish population does not support the use of taxpayers' money to promote the controversial sport.
