Camel herders let off steam during the annual camel fair in Pushkar, in the northwestern Indian state of Rajasthan, on Nov. 7. Some 50,000 camels and their herders converge on the small town on the edge of the Thar Desert for the five-day fair, which takes place around the full moon during the Hindu lunar month of Kartika. Washed and accessorized, the animals are paraded through town and take part in "beauty pageants" before the trading begins.
