German TV viewers have spoken: Girl band No Angels will represent Germany at this year's Eurovison Song Contest. The band beat four other acts in a televised sing-off Thursday evening for the honor to fly the flag for their country in May's competition, which is being held in Belgrade, Serbia.

The four singers won over viewers with their pop song "Disappear," trumping the competition who included musical singer Carolin Fortenbacher -- who came second -- and band Cinema Bizarre.

No Angels rose to fame on the TV show Popstars in 2000. After splitting up in 2003, four of the five original band members had another stab at conquering the charts in 2007, but could not match the success of their early years.

Germany has won the Eurovision Song Contest just once: In 1982 Nicole, singing Ein bisschen Frieden (A Little Bit of Peace), came out on top. Last year Germany's hopes rested on jazz musician Roger Cicero, who came 19th out of 24.
