"The Doll" (1935-1936) by Hans Bellmer, a German artist, is shown in the inaugural exhibition of the Centre Pompidou-Metz, in Metz, northeastern France. The exhibition, entitled "Masterpieces?," juxtaposes more than 700 artworks from different epochs that are judged to be masterpieces. French President Nicolas Sarkozy helped open the new art center on Tuesday. Pompidou-Metz is the first branch of Paris' famous Pompidou Centre.
