A view of the Louvre's new gallery ceiling, painted by artist Cy Twombly. The 81-year-old American painter completed the ceiling of one of the Paris museum's oldest wings with the help of assistants. France's Culture Minister Frederic Mitterrand attended the reopening of the wing and appointed the painter a knight of France's top National Order of the Legion of Honour. "You have combined the brilliance of contemporary art with the splendors of ancient art," Mitterand said.
