Frozen in a block of ice, a Ford Fiesta sits in front of the Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe, Germany, on Sept. 6. The unconventional parking space is the brainchild of the eccentric artist HA Schult, who plans to let the car thaw out as part of his "Car Culture" exhibit. The Fiesta was frozen in a special steel crate over a period of three months. If the car had been frozen in all at once, it would have burst the steel crate, according to the artist. Instead only 20 centimeters (around 8 inches) of water were poured in at a time, covering the car in stages.
