Christmas arrived early in the western German city of Cologne this year. Just shy of a month before the holidays, the city opened its annual Christmas market -- one of Germany's most popular. Christmas markets across the country have opened, but the stalls and advent scenes of Germany's most famous market, in Nuremberg, will first open on Friday. Still, Glühwein (mulled wine) season is now officially in full swing.
