A child walks past an ice-covered wave protection dam near the frozen shores of Constanta on the Black Sea in Romania on Wednesday. The cold wave  currently enveloping Europe has reduced temperatures to as low as minus 32 degrees Celsius (minus 26 Fahrenheit) in some regions, causing power cuts, major traffic disruptions and the closure of schools and businesses, while claiming dozens of casualties.
