Smoke obscures the sunset in Springerville, Arizona. The Wallow Wildfires that stretched across parts of the Apache and Sitgreaves National Forests began to encroach on residential areas earlier in the week, forcing many residents to flee their homes. The fire already covers more than 600 square miles and has proven difficult to contain. Some 2,500 firefighters have been working to prevent the blaze's spread.
