Emilio Strapasson of Brazil competes in the FIBT Skeleton World Championship on Thursday in Königssee in the German state of Bavaria. Skeleton is similar to luge, but rather than travelling feet first, the person lies on their stomach and goes down the track head first. The Königssee bobsleigh and luge track was the first permanent, artificial-ice track in the world when it was built in 1968. It was renovated for the 2011 FIBT world championships and is now one of the most modern in the world.
