Polish workers harvest cucumbers Thursday on a farm near the eastern German town of Lübbenau about 100 kilometers (60 miles) south of Berlin. The workers are typically students or teachers with long summer vacations who bring along friends and family to work as well. This year, the farm, Hof Austermann, is trying a new method of harvesting, where workers pick cucumbers while lying on a platform towed by a tractor. The method is currently in its test phase, according to farm owner Robert Austermann.
