A fiery gong-to-be is carried through a workshop in Java, Indonesia. The heated metal plate will be part of a gamelan, a set of traditional Indonesian instruments that can contain drums, gongs and xylophones or even string and wind instruments. The term gamelan refers to a distinctive set of instruments, built and tuned to stay together as a unit.
