Picture This La Vita Rossa

On Friday afternoon a man startled tourists gathered around Rome's famous Trevi Fountain when he threw a package of dye in it causing the 18th century monument to spout bright, blood-red water. The man escaped, but a box of leaflets was found nearby claiming that the act was committed by 'FTM Futurist Action 2007.' The group was protesting the costs of the Rome Film Festival -- and its red carpets -- and urged people to turn 'gray bourgeois society into a triumph of color.' The baroque fountain designed by Nicola Salvi is perhaps best known for a scene it hosted in the Federico Fellini 1960 film classic 'La Dolce Vita.'
