A reveler is doused with tomato pulp in the Spanish village of Bunol, near Valencia, during the annual "Tomatina" tomato fight. This year, the town council brought in some 100 tons of mushy ammunition on trucks for the estimated 40,000 tourists who descended on the town, which normally has just 9,000 inhabitants. Spanish media put the cost of tomatoes alone at €28,000 ($35,000) -- about a third of the overall budget for the festival -- with the rest going toward cleaning services, security and portable toilets.
