A boy pulls a ram towards the Atlantic Ocean at dawn to wash it in preparation for the Islamic feast of Eid al-Adha in Dakar, Senegal. Locally the feast is known as Tabaski and begins a day later than in the rest of the Muslim world. The slaughter of goats and sheep commemorates the Biblical story of Abraham, who was about to obey God's orders to sacrifice his son when God intervened and put a ram in the boy's place.
