The pink dawn sky provided a breathtaking backdrop for the Russian Soyuz TMA-20 rocket booster on Monday as it travelled to its launch pad at the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. The space rocket is scheduled for lift-off on Dec. 15, 2010, carrying a crew of three astronauts: Catherine "Cady" Coleman from the US, Italian Paolo Nespoli and Russian Dmitry Kondratyev. The autonomous flight to the International Space Station (ISS) should take two days. Built by the United States, Russia, Japan, Canada and 11 European countries, the ISS is one of the largest international scientific projects ever conceived.
