Picture This Southern Lights
Dieser Beitrag stammt aus dem SPIEGEL-Archiv. Warum ist das wichtig?
The Aurora Australis -- known as the southern lights -- are shown in a photo taken from the International Space Station in late May. The photo captures the effects a geomagnetic storm caused, most likely, by an eruption of plasma from the sun's atmosphere. The space station passed over the southern Indian Ocean at an altitude of 350 kilometers (220 miles) at the time of the photo.
