Massive waves crash into a breakwater at the port of Kiho in central Japan on Wednesday. The surge was caused by a powerful typhoon that hit the country's eastern coast, with at least six people reported dead or missing in a region already deeply wounded by a tsunami in March. The storm flooded rivers and also cut off train service in Tokyo. Moving quickly across the country, the second typhoon to ravage the country this month also passed over the Fukushima nuclear plant, already damaged from the tsunami earlier this year.
