Covered in green powder, supporters of the Trinamool Congress party celebrate the impending victory of party leader Mamata Banerjee following elections in West Bengal on May 13. Over the past month, more than 140 million Indians across four states and one union territory cast their votes. The results were counted Friday. Banarjee, whose followers call her Didi, or big sister, is expected to take the important state post of chief minister. Her success highlights the growing significance of India's female politicans.
