A woman stretches out her arms defiantly to a powerful wave on the beach at the Black Sea holiday destination of Sochi. The Russian subtropical resort often experiences stormy weather in the winter. Scheduled to host the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, Sochi was hit by violent storms last December which destroyed part of a specially designed Olympic port. City authorities say the work is now back on track.
