Following five failed attempts, US space shuttle Endeavour finally rockets skyward on Wednesday, July 15. The astronauts onboard are headed for the International Space Station where they will complete work on the Japanese Kibo laboratory. The launch, which took place at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, had previously been postponed owing to technical problems and lightning storms.
