Jumping behind the wheel of your car when you've had a few too many to drink and weaving off down the road, of course, is never a good idea. But it can also be rather destructive when you do it in your own driveway.

An inebriated man in the small, western German town of Versmold on early Tuesday morning jumped into his automobile and drove it repeatedly against his own home. The house, made of wood, proved not to be up to the task of withstanding the sozzled onslaught and was almost completely destroyed. Because the hammered homeowner also managed to damage a propane tank, the fire department was called in and a number of the neighboring houses had to be evacuated.

According to local police, the 47-year-old had been stopped while driving a friend's car drunk earlier in the evening and authorities had confiscated his drivers' license. After taking a taxi home, he then jumped into his own car, a Citroen mini-SUV, and took out his frustration on his house.

The man was delivered to a nearby psychiatric clinic for tests. Police are investigating the incident.
